As a continuation of ART 161, this course is designed to further explore basic hand-forming, wheel work, design, glazes, decorative processes, clays, and firing.
Prerequisites
ART 161 with a grade of “C” or higher or instructor approval.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Manipulate clay and be sensitive to the natural properties.
- Form a hand-built vessel using the slab method.
- Form a vessel using the coil method.
- Form a vessel on the wheel.
- Judge problems in handling materials and make needed changes.
- Load kiln with greenware and fire.
- Mix glazes and glaze pottery.
- Load kiln for glaze firing and fire.
- Participate in class discussions/critiques.
