Beginning Ceramics 2 focuses on advanced techniques in hand forming, sculpting, slab building, wheel work, glazing, and the design and execution of original 3-dimensional forms and functional pottery. 

Prerequisites

ART 161 with a grade of “C” or higher or instructor approval.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Properly identify the 6 Stages of Greenware and describe at least two techniques that can be used at each stage.
  2. Form a hand-built vessel using a minimum of two construction methods.
  3. Form a vessel on the wheel that is a minimum of 6” tall.
  4. Build a two-piece form.
  5. Load kiln with bisqueware and fire.
  6. Apply basic glazing techniques while completing a project.
  7. Demonstrate proper firing, loading, and unloading of kilns.
