This course introduces software applications used to improve the appearance of digital images with an emphasis on nondestructive editing techniques. Fundamental photography concepts of exposure, composition, color and tones are integrated with the technical skills required to manipulate images.  

Prerequisites

CMP 099, CMP 101, or CMP 103, with a grade of “C” or higher, or instructor approval. 

Student Learning Outcomes

1.    Apply compositional and color theory improvements that evoke an emotional response from the viewer.
2.    Effectively determine flaws in an image and use editing tools to correct them.
3.    Perform basic global editing to correct exposure, color and tonal balance in the image.
4.    Use selections, adjustments and masking tools to modify portions of the image.
5.    Create, organize and manipulate layers to provide optional visual results.
6.    Combine images or elements from images together to create a composite image.
