This course builds on the concepts and skills acquired in ART 161 and ART 162. The course is designed to focus on independent studio study of hand-forming, wheel throwing, advanced glazing, decorative techniques, and high temperature firing.

Prerequisites

ART 162 with a grade of “C” or higher

Student Learning Outcomes

1.    Construct a multi-piece functional form (ex., pots with fitted lids).
2.    Safely operate the extruder.
3.    Apply custom glazing techniques on a project.
4.    Demonstrate proper firing, loading, and unloading of kilns.
