This course builds upon skills developed in Beginning Jewelry. Topics include jewelry fabrication with sheet and wire, forming and soldering, sand casting, metal and wood inlays, overlays, and the marriage of metals. An additional fee is required.

Prerequisites

ART 174 with a grade of “C” or higher

Student Learning Outcomes

1.    Utilize design principles and appropriate metals and jewelry terminology to analyze and discuss jewelry or metalwork in terms of content and individual expression.
2.    Explain and employ additive, reductive, and manipulation processes.
3.    Evaluate and apply problem-solving strategies throughout the design and creation of three-dimensional artworks.
4.    Demonstrate safe working practices in the creation of jewelry and metal artworks.
5.    Complete more advanced jewelry projects as assigned by the instructor.
6.    Operate essential jewelry-making tools under instructor supervision.
