Builds upon the foundational skills and concepts introduced in ENG 101, with continued emphasis on academic research, critical reading, analytical thinking, and effective written communication. Over the course of the semester, students are required to produce a minimum of 7,000 words, including multiple revised drafts.

- Compose a 2,500-word argumentative research paper that clearly articulates and supports a central thesis. This paper will serve as the culminating assessment for ENG 102. It will be evaluated using the standardized rubric provided below, which is designed to generate quantitative data for assessing student learning outcomes and informing ongoing improvements to curriculum and instruction within the writing program.
- Produce two analytical essays, each with a minimum length of 1,000 words, that present well-reasoned arguments based on assigned readings in fiction, nonfiction, drama, or poetry. These texts will be made available by the instructor through designated online resources.
