Building on concepts and skills from ART 161, ART 162, and ART 261, this course further explores wheel work, glazing, decorative processes, and differences in clay bodies through an independent study style that allows students to continue to develop their creative styles.

Prerequisites

ART 261 with a grade of “C” or higher or instructor approval.

Student Learning Outcomes

1.    Throw medium to tall forms of at least 10” on the wheel.
2.    Execute advanced shaped forms that expand and reduce on the same piece.
3.    Throw a vessel with more than one clay body.
4.    Demonstrate proper firing, loading, and unloading of kilns.
