This course provides an introductory study of various ballroom (smooth), Latin (rhythm), swing, and social dances. Students will learn foundational techniques and a range of dance steps within each style. Ballroom dances covered may include Waltz, Foxtrot, and Tango. Rhythm dances may include Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble, Jive, and East Coast Swing. Social dances may include Salsa, Nightclub 2-step, West Coast Swing, Argentine Tango, Merengue, Bachata, Jitterbug, Lindy Hop, and Country Western 2-step.

1. Analyze the historical development, cultural significance, and foundational techniques of ballroom, Latin, and social dance styles.
2. Identify and distinguish among dance types appropriate for various musical styles.
3. Adapt dance exercises by varying intensity, impact, and style to accommodate diverse fitness levels and needs.
4. Select preferred dance styles and integrate dance regularly as part of a healthy lifestyle.
5. Participate in structured practice sessions and contribute to a culminating dance event.
