This course fosters an understanding of the design process and its role in theatre production and other live performance events. Emphasis is placed on developing conceptual thinking, creativity, problem-solving skills for specific spaces, and collaborative design practices. Additionally, the course prepares students to present and discuss their work in accordance with professional standards.
Prerequisites
THC 231 with a grade of “C” or higher or instructor approval.
1. Identify and integrate relevant research into the development of design projects.
2. Organize conceptual ideas and translate them into practical design solutions.
3. Communicate design concepts through sketches, renderings, three-dimensional models, and technical drawings.
4. Analyze plays with attention to scenic design requirements.
5. Present preliminary and completed design work in a clear and professional manner.
6. Demonstrate time management throughout the design process.
