This introductory course in American Sign Language focuses on its application within the Deaf community. Emphasis is placed on vocabulary, structure, grammar, dialogues, and narratives.
Concurrent enrollment in ASL 101L is required.
Prerequisites
Reading proficiency as established by District Policy.
Student Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate proficiency in Beginning Level I sign language conversations.
2. Develop sign language comprehension skills.
3. Describe aspects of Deaf culture and community, and interact appropriately within this cultural context.
