This course offers a comprehensive study of the concepts and practical applications of effective interviewing from both the perspective of the interviewer and the interviewee. Students will master a range of communication principles and methodologies critical for success in diverse interview settings.

Prerequisites

ENG 101 with a grade of "C" or higher.

Student Learning Outcomes

1.    Explain the fundamental principles of interviewing, including its various functions, formats, and objectives in professional contexts.
2.    Identify and apply the most appropriate interviewing methodologies and communication strategies for different settings, such as informational, employment, performance review, and persuasive interviews.
3.    Conduct a self-assessment to identify personal strengths and weaknesses as both an interviewer and interviewee, and develop strategies for improvement.
4.    Demonstrate proficiency in a range of interviewing techniques, including asking strategic questions, active listening, managing nonverbal cues, and providing constructive feedback.
