This course offers a concise introduction to the fundamental principles of child development spanning the critical period from birth through 36 months. The curriculum emphasizes acknowledging the unique individuality of every infant and toddler while focusing heavily on the adult's pivotal role in consciously establishing and maintaining a safe, responsive, and highly stimulating environment to optimize the very young child's holistic growth and developmental trajectory.

1.    Analyze the interrelation between the sequence of development (orderly, predictable steps) and the rate of development (speed) for individual children.
2.    Summarize historical perspectives and current trends in the fields of infant and toddler care and early development.
3.    Characterize the concept of the "unlimited child," identifying their major needs and developmental milestones, and including specific considerations for children with Special Rights.
4.    Outline the application of the Three A's (Attention, Approval, Affection) as master tools for effective, high-quality childcare.
5.    Identify effective preparation strategies and necessary tools for establishing a professional career in early childhood education.
6.    Establish the critical importance of building responsive relationships with infants and toddlers and employing appropriate guidance techniques for their behaviors.
7.    Articulate the necessity of supportive and professional communication with both families and colleagues.
