Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Outline the values and beliefs that shape personal and professional ethics.
  2. Evaluate the effect of historical developments of ethical thinking on ethical decision-making models.
  3. Compare and contrast ethical codes of conduct for national mental and behavioral health organizations (including but not limited to NASW Code of Ethics and APA Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct) and summarize key principals in each document.
  4. Describe the nature of an ethical dilemma in the context of behavioral health and social service professionals.
  5. Analyze personal and professional ethical dilemmas through models of ethical decision making.
  6. Apply critical thinking skills and models of ethical decision making to contemporary social issues.
  7. Analyze the multicultural perspectives of ethics from diverse cultures.
  8. Provide examples of moral, legal, and professional ethical dilemmas including boundaries, mandated reporting, confidentiality, beneficence and non-maleficence.
  9. Outline credentialing/regulatory agencies governing social and behavioral health services in the United States.
