This course is designed to equip students with the practical communication and professional writing skills needed for a successful job application process. Students will develop a comprehensive portfolio of professional application materials and gain hands-on experience in preparing for and participating in live interviews.

None.

Student Learning Outcomes

1.    Conduct a comprehensive self-assessment of their employment history, skills, abilities, and training to define clear and realistic career goals.
2.    Produce a collection of essential job search documents, including résumés, cover letters, and references, formatted for professional standards.
3.    Develop an error-free, effective résumé tailored to specific job descriptions and career objectives.
4.    Format and write a targeted cover letter or application letter that persuasively communicates qualifications and interest.
5.    Accurately and completely fill out a variety of job applications, both online and in print, following all instructions and adhering to professional standards.
6.    Produce appropriate thank-you notes and follow-up communications for different stages of the job search process.
7.    Prepare for and effectively participate in a mock interview, practicing communication skills, managing interview questions, and demonstrating professional demeanor.
