This course prepares students to diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot refrigeration systems in commercial environments.

Prerequisites

•    HVA 201, HVA 203, and HVA 205 with a grade of “C” or higher,
•    HVA 207 and HVA 209 with a grade of “C” or higher or concurrent enrollment in HVA 207 and HVA 209, 
•    or instructor approval. 

 

Student Learning Outcomes

1.    Demonstrate effective troubleshooting procedures for commercial refrigerant systems.
2.    Simulate troubleshooting procedures for commercial air-pressurized systems.
3.    Identify and perform the fundamental steps required to assemble refrigeration systems.
4.    Explain the underlying principles and identify essential equipment required to maintain safety in classroom, laboratory, and commercial job-site environments.
5.    Compare and contrast different refrigeration applications and the specific refrigerants used in each context.
6.    Describe protocols necessary for the safe and environmentally responsible handling of refrigerants.
7.    Demonstrate professionalism pertinent to the daily responsibilities of technicians in the HVACR industry.
8.    Demonstrate proper maintenance of basic HVAC-R tools.
