The course provides instruction on OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles outlined in OSHA Act Part 1910. All relevant OSHA standards are adhered to throughout the program. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a 10-hour OSHA general industry safety and health course completion card issued by the Department of Labor.

1. Explain the importance of OSHA in ensuring a safe and healthful workplace for employees covered by OSHA regulations.
2. Apply OSHA regulations regarding walking and working surfaces to prevent slips, trips, and falls, and identify safe practices for installing, maintaining, and using stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
3. Summarize OSHA requirements for exit routes and Emergency Action Plans, and outline the standards for Fire Prevention Plans and portable fire extinguishers.
4. Identify safe work practices related to electricity, including key electrical terminology, fundamental safety principles, and relevant regulatory requirements.
5. Select appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) based on workplace evaluations and identified hazards, and ensure proper fit, maintenance, and use.
6. List the components of the Hazard Communication Standard and its training program, outline the elements of a Written Hazard Communication Program, specify requirements for Material Safety Data Sheets and hazardous chemical inventories, and identify hazard warning labels.
7. Identify bloodborne pathogens and their common symptoms, and list engineering and work practice controls that protect employees from exposure.
8. Identify confined spaces and associated hazards, summarize requirements under the Permit-Required Confined Spaces Standard, and describe the duties and responsibilities of confined space workers.
9. Identify hazardous energy sources, utilize appropriate energy-isolating devices, and describe procedures for implementing lockout/tagout protocols.
