This course will introduce students to multiple types of pumps used throughout the industry and will expand on centrifugal pumps in multiple pump systems. Students will learn the theory of operation of fixed displacement pumps, installation and maintenance procedures, and basic troubleshooting processes.

Prerequisites

TEC 139 with a grade of “C” or better.

1.    Define the two ways multiple pumps can be used in a system.
2.    Explain theory of operation of gear pumps.
3.    Explain theory of operation of piston pumps.
4.    Explain theory of operation of diaphragm pumps.
5.    Explain theory of operation of turbine pumps.
6.    Explain the basic steps for installation and maintenance of a variety of pumps.
7.    Demonstrate proficiency in operating a variety of pumps while adhering to safety standards.
8.    Troubleshoot a variety of pumps.
