This course provides students with the knowledge and hands-on skills required to maintain and repair bulk material handling systems commonly found in fixed plant operations. Students will learn to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair conveyors, feeders, and chutes, with a focus on recognizing wear points and applying Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) strategies to maximize system reliability and safety through monitoring and inspection.

1. Identify the components and functions of bulk material handling systems.
2. Inspect conveyors, feeders, and chutes to identify common signs of wear, damage, and potential maintenance issues.
3. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as belt tracking, tensioning, and idler replacement.
4. Diagnose and repair common problems including spillage, misalignment, and blockages.
5. Apply safety practices when performing inspections and repairs on bulk handling systems.
6. Describe the four different maintenance strategies and their level of effectiveness.
7. Describe various monitoring and data recording systems used in Reliability Centered Maintenance.
