The basic principles of inert gas welding using a MIG welder. Basic skills will be developed using a MIG welder on a variety of materials.

Student Learning Outcomes
- Identify GMAW equipment components, inspect for safety, and perform external repairs.
- Set up GMAW equipment for welding plain carbon steel, aluminum, and 3XX stainless steel.
- Make GMAW surfacing welds with short circuit and spray transfer in the flat position on plain carbon steel, aluminum, and 3XX stainless steel.
- Make fillet welds in flat, horizontal, and vertical position on plain carbon steel using GMAW-S process.
- Make groove welds in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions, on plain carbon steel using the GMAW-S process.
