This course provides theoretical instruction and practical training in essential welding processes commonly employed in industrial settings. The course emphasizes techniques that adhere to established industry standards and prepares students for the American Welding Society (AWS) certification examination. 

An additional fee is required.

Prerequisites

WLD 101 or WLD 108 with a grade of “C” or higher or instructor approval.

Student Learning Outcomes

1.    Operate welding equipment safely and efficiently in the workshop.
2.    Select and use the appropriate welding process for each task.
3.    Consistently deliver precise, high-quality SMAW welds on various steel types.
4.    Consistently achieve high-quality welds on steel plates in all positions.
5.    Produce high-quality welds using gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW).
6.    Follow standard procedures to minimize welding distortion.
7.    Consistently demonstrate proficiency in recognized welding test methods.
