Instruction emphasizes the development of competencies required to assist individuals experiencing airway obstruction, respiratory arrest, or cardiac arrest.

Student Learning Outcomes

1.    Identify and explain the significance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
2.    Demonstrate the correct procedure for performing adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation as a single rescuer.
3.    Apply appropriate techniques to manage foreign-body airway obstruction.
4.    Implement pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation and manage foreign-body airway obstruction in children.
5.    Demonstrate specialized techniques, including two-person rescue team coordination, the jaw-thrust maneuver, and the use of face masks.
