This introductory pickleball class is designed for new and first time players who want to learn the basics in a fun, supportive environment. Participants will be introduced to the fundamental rules of the game, basic scoring, court layout, and essential equipment.


Instruction will focus on foundational skills such as grip, ready position, simple serves, and basic rally shots, with plenty of guided practice and easy drills. Emphasis is placed on building confidence, understanding game flow, and learning proper court positioning. No prior pickleball experience is required.


This class moves at a comfortable pace and is ideal for those looking to try pickleball for the first time or refresh the fundamentals before advancing to more competitive play.

Student Learning Outcomes

1.    Identify the basic rules, scoring system, court layout, and common terminology used in pickleball.
2.    Demonstrate proper grip, stance, and stroke techniques (forehand, backhand, serve, volley). 
3.    Perform pickleball as dictated by the rules and traditional standards.
4.    Develop strategies for singles and doubles play. 
5.    Demonstrate safe and respectful behavior.
6.    Describe the health benefits of pickleball as a recreational sport.
