This course builds on the beginning T'ai Chi Ch'uan I course. It is designed for beginners combining gentle movement, mindful breathing, and mental focus to improve balance, relieve stress, enhance flexibility, and increase mental clarity.

Prerequisites

HPE 101T with a grade of ā€œCā€ or higher or instructor approval.

Student Learning Outcomes

1.    Explain the oriental concept of the energy systems as embodied in the T'ai Chi symbol.
2.    Practice abdominal breathing technique.
3.    Use proper technique to improve posture.
4.    Improve balance through slow, deliberate movements.
5.    Reduce anxiety and stress.
6.    Increase flexibility in muscles and joints.
7.    Demonstrate a successful performance of the beginning series of T'ai Chi Chu'an.
