This course provides theory, diagnosis, and service information related to vehicle fuel and emission systems. Course includes an opportunity to analyze, test, and diagnose fuel and emission components and systems. This class, together with AUT 260 or AUT 220, prepares students for the ASE certification test on engine performance.
Prerequisites
None.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Apply proper safety procedures and processes.
- Diagnose general engine driveability concerns using a strategy-based process. (NATEF VIII A)
- Diagnose hard code driveability concerns related to the vehicle's fuel, air induction, and exhaust systems on vehicles with computerized engine controls using DVOM, wiring diagrams, service information, and scan tools. (NATEF VIII B & NATEF VIII E)
- Diagnose emission concerns related to the vehicle's computerized emission control systems using vacuum gauge, smoke machine, scan tools, service information and five-gas analyzer. (NATEF VIII E)
