This course will focus on wigs and hair additions, hair removal, career planning, job skills, the beauty business, and Arizona law and regulatory compliance.

Prerequisites

COS 133 with a grade of “C” or higher.

Student Learning Outcomes

  2. Describe different hair and fiber used for hair additions and wigs.
  3. Outline methods of attaching hair extensions.
  4. Recognize different types of wigs and hairpieces and how to care for them.
  5. Identify excessive hair growth causes.
  6. State and explain temporary and permanent hair removal methods.
  7. Identify hair removal contraindications.
  8. Summarize and explain the state licensing examination process.

  10. Prepare for a job interview in the beauty industry.

  12. Detail and discuss sales and marketing for cosmetology.
  13. Outline requirements for owning a business.
  14. Identify the different employment types in the beauty industry.
  15. Identify and explain the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology’s rules and regulations, including licensing requirements, professional standards, and legal responsibilities applicable to hairstyling practice and salon operation.
