This course builds on the fundamental principles of power walking taught in HPE 101W, including the proper way to prepare for starting and ending each session through effective stretching techniques. Students learn correct walking form, pacing, and basic fitness skills to improve endurance and overall wellness.
Prerequisites
HPE 101BC with a grade of āCā or higher.
1. Identify the basic principles of power walking, including proper posture, stride, and pacing.
2. Demonstrate correct warm up and cool down procedures, including stretching techniques used to prepare for and end a power walking session.
3. Apply safe and effective walking mechanics to improve cardiovascular fitness and endurance.
4. Assess personal walking intensity using simple measures such as perceived exertion or walking speed.
5. Develop a basic power walking routine that incorporates proper preparation, technique, and progression to support overall health and fitness.
