This course introduces students to the principles, components and application of compressors and pneumatic systems in a fixed/industrial plant operation. Pneumatics are widely used for actuation, control, and automation in industrial environments. Students will learn safe practices, basic system theory, and troubleshooting skills.
Prerequisites
None.
1. Explain the principles of compressed air systems and pneumatic power transmission.
2. Identify and describe the function of basic pneumatic components.
3. Read and interpret simple pneumatic schematics.
4. Demonstrate safe operation of pneumatic equipment.
5. Perform basic trouble shooting of pneumatic equipment and systems.
6. Perform basic maintenance tasks such as filter checks, lubrication, and leak detection.
7. Identify the four most common compressors used in industrial settings.
8. Explain how compressors are categorized.
9. Explain what a compressor is and how it operates.
