This course introduces students to the principles and practices of precision measurement as applied to industrial maintenance and repair. Accurate measurement is fundamental to ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliability in fixed/industrial plant operations. Students will develop the skills to select, operate and interpret precision measuring instruments in alignment with industrial standards and quality assurance protocols.

1. Identify and select appropriate precision measuring instruments for a given task.
2. Accurately measure liner, angular, and depth dimensions.
3. Compare measurement results against specified tolerances.
4. Properly use calipers for accurate measurement.
5. Correctly operate inside and outside micrometers.
6. Correctly use dial indicators.
7. Record and communicate measurement data using industry-standard documentation practices.
8. Apply quality control assurance concepts to evaluate component compliance and reliability.
9. Demonstrate the application and understanding of measuring techniques.
