This course Introduces principles of cosmetology instruction, learning theory, lesson planning, communication, classroom management, safety, and professional responsibilities. Students develop foundational teaching skills for cosmetology education environments
Prerequisites
Student must have a current cosmetology, hairstylist, aesthetician, or nail technician license and instructor permission.
1. Explain the roles, responsibilities, and professional expectations of a cosmetology instructor.
2. Apply principles of adult learning, motivation, and learning styles to cosmetology education.
3. Develop lesson plans with measurable learning objectives and appropriate instructional activities.
4. Demonstrate effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in educational settings.
5. Present cosmetology theory content using a variety of instructional methods and teaching aids.
6. Incorporate educational technologies and instructional resources to enhance student learning.
7. Demonstrate classroom management techniques that encourage student engagement and professionalism.
8. Teach and model safety, sanitation, infection control, and workplace practices consistent with industry standards.
9. Interpret state board laws, rules, and regulations applicable to cosmetology education and licensure.
10. Demonstrate professional ethics, leadership, and professionalism appropriate for cosmetology educators.
