This course provides advanced instruction in teaching methods, student assessment, clinic supervision, program management, and supervised teaching experiences. Emphasizes preparation for cosmetology instructor licensure and employment as an educator.
Prerequisites
COS 205 with a grade of “C” or better or concurrent enrollment in COS 205. Student must also have a current cosmetology license and instructor permission.
1. Deliver effective classroom, laboratory, and clinic instruction utilizing industry-standard teaching practices.
2. Demonstrate cosmetology, hairstyling, and nail technology procedures while applying effective teaching techniques.
3. Develop and administer written, practical, and competency-based assessments.
4. Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to support skill development.
5. Supervise student clinic activities while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
6. Maintain instructional records, student progress documentation, and program-related reports.
7. Apply conflict resolution, coaching, and problem-solving strategies in educational environments.
8. Integrate current industry trends, technologies, products, and business practices into instruction.
9. Prepare students for state licensing examinations and employment within the beauty industry.
10. Demonstrate competence through supervised teaching experiences, including lesson delivery, assessment, and classroom facilitation.
