This course provides an introductory overview of HVAC‑R systems, including their historical development and foundational scientific principles. Emphasis is placed on the relationship between pressure, temperature, and heat transfer, as well as the identification and basic function of major HVAC‑R unit types.
Prerequisites
None.
1. Describe the fundamental principles of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC R), including the historical development of modern systems.
2. Explain the relationship between pressure, temperature, and heat transfer as it applies to HVAC R operation.
3. Identify major types of HVAC R systems, their basic components, and the essential tools and materials used in HVAC R applications.
4. Explain the operation of compression systems and describe the function of compressors within HVAC R systems.
5. Analyze the properties and applications of refrigerants and apply fundamental scientific concepts to basic HVAC R scenarios.
