Prerequisites
HVA 115 with a grade of “C” or higher or instructor approval
1. Describe the refrigeration cycle, emphasizing compliance with safety procedures and adherence to testing protocols for temperature and pressure relationships.
2. Describe heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration control systems, including wiring configurations and technical components necessary for optimal system performance.
3. Diagnose and service residential air conditioning systems by applying load calculations, selecting appropriate equipment, and ensuring balanced air duct flow.
4. Explain operational procedures and principles for servicing gas and electric heating systems, including the conduct of safety inspections and evaluation of system performance.
5. Troubleshoot and test air conditioning components, systems, and accessories, including analysis of the sequence of operation.
6. Analyze the design and operation of commercial refrigeration systems.
7. Analyze the function and performance of evaporators and heat exchange systems.
8. Analyze the condensing process and the associated heat-exchange systems.
