This course provides an overview of commercial refrigeration systems and their applications. Students learn system components, construction basics, and the refrigerants used in different commercial settings. Emphasis is placed on safety practices, environmentally responsible refrigerant handling, and professionalism in HVAC‑R work. The course also covers proper care and maintenance of essential HVAC‑R tools.

Prerequisites

HVA 201, HVA 203, and HVA 205, all with a grade of “C” or higher, or instructor approval.

1.    Evaluate the components and operational mechanisms of commercial refrigeration systems.
2.    Differentiate between various specialized refrigeration applications.
3.    Describe essential construction techniques employed in the standard assembly of refrigeration systems.

5.    Compare and contrast various refrigeration applications, highlighting the specific refrigerants used in each context.

7.    Identify key attributes of professionalism pertinent to the daily responsibilities of HVACR technicians.
