The basic principles of inert gas welding using a TIG welder. Basic skills will be developed using a TIG welder on a variety of materials and all positions.

Student Learning Outcomes
          1. Identify GTAW equipment components, inspect for safety, and perform external repairs.
          2. Set up GTAW equipment for welding plain carbon steel, aluminum, and 3XX stainless steel.
          3. Make GTAW surfacing welds in the flat position on plain carbon steel, aluminum, and 3XX stainless steel.
          4. Make fillet welds in all positions on plain carbon steel using GTAW process.
          5. Make groove welds in all positions on plain carbon steel using the GTAW process.
          6. Make GTAW-S on plain carbon steel workmanship weldment ASW-
          7. Make fillet welds in all positions on aluminum using the GTAW process.
          8. Make groove welds in all positions on aluminum using the GTAW process.
          9. Make fillet welds in horizontal and vertical positions on 3XX stainless steel, using the GTAW process.
