This course teaches flux cored arc welding (FCAW) and gas metal arc welding (GMAW) principles and techniques. Course includes metal preparation processes, equipment set-up, and welding techniques related to different metal types and welding positions. This course helps prepare students for American Welding Society (AWS) entry-level certifications. 

An additional fee is required.

Prerequisites

WLD 101 or WLD 108 with a grade of “C” or higher or instructor approval.

Student Learning Outcomes

1.    Ensure the safe and effective operation of all shop welding equipment.
2.    Produce high-quality welds utilizing the MIG process.
3.    Produce consistent, high-quality welds on different metal types and in various welding positions.
4.    Apply standard shop procedures to minimize distortion during MIG welding.
5.    Demonstrate appropriate welding test methods.
