The STEM Research Certificate provides students with the opportunity to engage in undergraduate research that specifically focuses on the planetary, galactic, and stellar phenomena occurring in outer space. Students will submit their research for publication and present it to an audience. 

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the scientific research process.
  2. Work effectively on a student research team.
  3. Plan a research project and prepare a written research proposal.
  4. Conduct research in a STEM field.
  5. Analyze data to draw research project conclusions.
  6. Work with a team to write a research paper.
  7. Outline the steps to edit a scientific paper to make it more concise, objective, and clear, and apply that knowledge to edit your team’s paper as well as the papers of other teams.
  8. Prepare a presentation to present research orally or via a poster.
