A program that generally prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to install indoor and outdoor residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems, and associated power transmission lines. Includes instruction in electricity, safety procedures, wiring, insulation and grounding, schematic blueprint interpretation, equipment operation and maintenance, and applicable codes and standards.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Solve mathematical and algebraic problems that are applicable to electricity.
  2. Define and describe principles, concepts, and devices related to electronics and solid-state technology.
  3. Define and describe principles, concepts, and devices related to basic electrical system wiring and components.
  4. Connect, operate, and design a ladder diagram using one or more logic elements.
  5. Safely operate a digital multimeter.
  6. Interpret schematics, system design, motor start/stop circuits, motor sequence control, reversing motor control, and motor jogging.
  7. Describe the function of a wiring system
  8. Outline and apply the standards for electrical safety in the workplace.

In order to obtain this certificate, you must:
●    Complete each required course above with a grade of “C” or better.
●    File a petition for the certificate.
●    Remove any indebtedness to the College.
●    Complete at least 50% of the credits at Gila Community College.
