The Welding Technology degree program provides students to acquire proficiency in various welding and cutting tools, techniques, and materials. The curriculum prepares graduates for professional roles in welding and metal fabrication. In addition, the program develops supervisory competencies necessary for positions such as project supervisor or manager.
Program Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate safe work practices that prioritize personal safety, the safety of others, and environmental protection.
2. Perform welding operations using appropriate techniques across various metals and under diverse conditions.
3. Interpret blueprints and verbal instructions, including welding symbols, to fabricate components using standard welding tools.
4. Apply shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) methods to produce precise, high-quality welds on various steel types.
5. Perform gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) surfacing welds in the flat position on plain carbon steel, aluminum, and 3XX series stainless steel.
6. Apply principles and techniques of flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) and gas metal arc welding (GMAW).
7. Consistently produce precise, high-quality shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) welds on various steel types.
8. Produce high-quality welds using gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) techniques.
9. Identify industrial materials and contemporary manufacturing processes, and explain their current applications in manufacturing and fabrication contexts.
