This program prepares students for careers in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Through hands on training and applied theory, students learn to install, maintain, and troubleshoot residential and commercial HVAC R systems. The curriculum emphasizes electrical fundamentals, refrigeration principles, system diagnostics, and industry safety standards. Graduates are prepared for entry level technician roles and industry certifications

Program Learning Outcomes
1.    Apply HVAC R Theory and Principles of heating, cooling, refrigeration, air distribution, and electrical concepts to evaluate system performance and functionality.
2.    Use industry standard tools, instruments, and diagnostic procedures to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential and commercial HVAC R equipment.
3.    Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, equipment specifications, and service manuals to support accurate installation and service work.
4.    Perform safe and effective installation of HVAC R units, controls, piping, ductwork, and related components following industry standards and local codes.
5.    Safely handle refrigerants in accordance with EPA regulations, including recovery, recycling, charging, and leak detection.
6.    Employ OSHA and industry safety procedures to minimize hazards, properly use PPE, and maintain a safe work environment for themselves and others.
7.    Conduct airflow measurements, load calculations, electrical tests, and performance evaluations to verify system efficiency and compliance.
8.    Communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, and supervisors while maintaining professionalism, ethical conduct, and quality workmanship.
9.    Demonstrate knowledge and skills aligned with recognized certifications such as EPA 608, NATE, and HVAC Excellence.

  • File a Graduation Petition at least 60 calendar days prior to the end of the semester in which graduation is anticipated.
  • Remove any indebtedness to the college.
